Filtering your GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) data can help enhance your ability to identify and interpret targets of interest, or, it can destroy your ability to see targets of interest. Practitioners must be careful when applying filters so they do not remove targets from the data set. One way to make sure that targets of interest are not being removed is to compare your data to its previous version after EVERY SINGLE processing step.
In this video, I show an example of a background filter that helped illuminate reinforcements in a concrete wall. At first, the reinforcements were obstructed by another signal, but after removing the horizontal obstructing response the reinforcements could be clearly delineated.
